From the Hallowed Halls of The H2G2 Philosophers Guild,
we are proud to bring you, this weeks Philosophical
Phrases.
Phrases which stir questions to which you may never know the answer.
This week's phrases are a compilation from several members of the guild, enjoy:
'For every continuous symmetry of the laws of physics,
there must exist a conservation law. For every conservation law, there must exist a continuous symmetry.' - toxxin'Our job is simply to be just. That is, we have only to identify and solve the injustices of philosophy, without setting up new parties and creeds.' - Recumbentman
'Without evil, there can be no good.' - Hussassan
And a special philosophy of birthdays:
Every year we humans experience the phenomenon of birthdays; a single day a year when we celebrate just how good it is to be alive, for such a special day it is surprising how little thought we give it. With
several billion people in this world and even the few thousand/million that live in the same town as us, it requires little thought to realize that, with only 365.25 days a year, every person on this planet is
sharing their birthday with millions of others. Something which few people have ever thought about.
All those people (and animals if you really want to be true to this cause.) just living their lives alongside you and, of course, when something lives it must also die. Countless lives are lost everyday, from the greatest human to the smallest amoebae. All these creatures just disappearing, most without us ever knowing about them. This is inevitable, all that lives must also die, the only thing that is standing between you and death is time, time that we all seem to be willing to waste. What have you done in the past year? Do you consider it as something worth doing, can you actually say that in the past year that you have actually lived? In the past year, infact the past few months, I have looked death in the eyes twice and found what I saw hilarious. Death can claim you today, tomorrow or any time it chooses. And all we can do is celebrate another year of life without actually
living.
So now I set you this challenge, do your dream, do not say 'I wish I could _________' - go and make it possible, so that next year you can say 'I have lived'. - Z Phantom
