Always been up for trying something new. I don't get down to the beach too much, so tell me, what's an S5? I have to ask because I'm vegetarian.

That is one serious sugar fix, and it looks pretty too. Just right for this time of the morning. Just been over on the mountain (http://www.h2g2.com/forumframe.cgi?thread=35442&forum=31029) giving -1 some more food for thought. I think I've come up with a really neat way of looking at life, the universe and everything, or I could just be delirious from lack of sleep. When exactly should we start to see the earth's shadow?

Ahh I 'll have a doughnut but i suppose i'm too late. I'm used to forums where people don't talk every 2 minutes lol

Joanna says we can help ourselves if nobody is here, as long as we don't cook any. God help anybody who does (http://www.h2g2.com/A250615). Do you think someone did?

That was for me. I didn't cook any doughnuts though, it was somethig to do with leaving a lot of blank lines in a forum posting

5 things I have learned.
1.) this is an awesome place
2.) don't cook doughnuts
3.) don't leave messages and not check them because people actually reply
4.) this is an awesome place
5.) 50 million more people like Douglas Adams then i thought
6.) frogs can be quite purplish sometimes

Ooooh, was that all you did. I'd better watch my step. Are there enough donuts left to get us through the night. It's getting rather chilly out here. And some clouds are scudding around the sky now.

Are you here for the lunar eclipse too? We've got about an hour to wait. And, yes, this is an awesome place. I know people who are addicted.

Well, I can just begin to see the shadow in the top left quadrant of the moon's disk. How about you?

Serendipity Posted Jan 21, 2000
It's very peaceful here alone at the beach. The earth has moved across the disc of the moon and is leaving just a crescent. I've tried jumping up and down and waving my arms vigorously, but I can't see my shadow. No sign of this dramatic reddening either - and the clouds are getting heavier - and, oh, it's disappeared. Is that the clouds or the eclipse?

Serendipity Posted Jan 21, 2000
OK, for those friends who decided to sleep through this spectacle, the clouds have parted for a while leaving a beautiful pink disc with a sliver of a crescent in the bottom corner. The colour is definitely pinky red and is subtle rather than dramatic, but wonderful nonetheless. -1, I'm sorry to have missed you again, but I have to leave this tranquil place to get some sleep. I hope you catch the other side of the shadow. Describe it for me. Love to all.

well we stood on top of our dorm roof for about an hour...my fingers are numb, and so are my ears, and it was worth it! beautiful reds, pinks, and oranges, and at the peak a beautiful disk of light around the moon. until next time

We had clouds and I woke up especially early. Oh well, the man on the radio said there's another one same time next year.

Purely from memory, I'm sure there are meant to be a couple more this year as well. But don't quote me on that...

I'll take a S3 to confuse all those new doughnut officianado's. Hi BB I was thinking while I watched the lunar eclipse from inside my eyelids an came up with the first working title for the H2G2 Bond Movie (http://www.h2g2.com/forumframe.cgi?forum=19534&thread=36548) Hows about "The Doughnuts are Not Enough"
