Who's heard of "Shawn Keller's horrifying look at the furries"?

(cocks head to one side) Huh?

It's a comic book that satirises the furry fandom in a "mad magazine" sort of style. The cover features several overweigh nerds reminiscent of the Gereld Scarfe puppets from "the wall". The stories are about the absolute worst eliments of the fandom, exagerated to an extrime. It's either a witty, not to serious laugh at ourselves, or pure, burning hate. It's very controverisal. Interestingly, though, the man behind it, Shawn Keller, is a furry himself. He's been one since the '80's. Apparently he draws yiff, wears fursuits, is a furry through and through. Why would one of our own produce something so nasty?

Well, black comedy isn't to everyones taste Pinky. It depend on the readers and what they're into.

I think he's just having a not-to-serious look at the fandom....that was his intention, anyway.

Ohh, I hate that guy with a nasty passion but that just because of the high end yiff element to him.. I think that is basically just something really for other furs like us to read in a 'We're lighthearted enough to poke fun at ourselves' and 'This is how the outside write about us, just worse!' way. I can't see anything wrong with it but if it fell into the wrong hands (note that I say hands, not paws for obvious reasons)... uh oh.

Well, you need to be able to laugh at yourself, but you shouldn't take it too far. (as I've done.....I constantly make cheerfully self-deperciating remarks and are being treated for excess self-loathing. You wouldn't think so, would you?)

No, I wouldn't but now I know I'll probably see it.. There is such thing as being too easy to laugh at yourself making comments which sound more like self-loathing rather than actual pride in your thang..
