I'm British. What is this softball thing anyway?
Peregrin Posted Dec 8, 1999
Hello everyone. H2G2's got big. I mean, really biiiiiig. And I've only got a limited amount of time, which means there's a lot of forums that I don't bother checking any more.
Like this one. Peregrin's Gym has never really got off the ground, mainly because I haven't had the time to support it to the extent that, e.g., Bluebottle has done with his excellent beach/sewers/swimming pool/goodness-knows-what. At the moment I'm trying to concentrate on ACE duties and writing new entries - after all, that's what H2G2 is all about.
So, my point is... actually, I don't have a point. I'm just making excuses about not being friendly enough.
But I'll try to do something with the gym... like make it a part of Bluebottle's complex or something. Rather than having it sitting around doing nothing.
Also, I suspect a gym isn't a particularly good choice of location because gyms are associated with exercise, an alien concept to many people. Like me.

Um...good point.

Don't worry about it Peregrin. h2g2 has indeed got big right quick, as my texas friends might say. Judging by your user number, you and I joined around the same time, and while h2g2 wasn't exactly small then, it was a microscopic dot on a microscopic dot compared to now.
I'm sure you have a point about the gym - everyone seems content to hang out at the beach instead. But there will always be a few of us trying to bulk up - so we don't get sand kicked in our face anymore

Oh, and if you look on the front page, you'll see that the gym made Peta's picks (along with Frink's Drinks). Hooray!

Congrats Peregrin - that's 2 of your articles etc that've been a Peta Pick, while I don't think any of mine have yet (sigh). So well done, and if you want more links to your gym, I'm happy to place them!

Cool! Peta's Picks. Well well well. *Peregrin smugly adjusts his tie*
I think I'll wander around the beach and say subtle things like 'Oh hello everyone. Whoops! *Peregrin falls down a manhole....into Peregrin's Gym! What a coincidence!*'

Well, after looking it was the whole of Frinks Drinks on Peta's Picks, and my waterworks was mentioned too! But I agree that you should get more attention than you get - you've got better pictures on your article than I have!

Well I can't complain anyway... for example, my H2G2 Christians page has got more discussion on it than I can keep up with by any stretch of the imagination.

And Bluebottle has done much more advertising in various forums, from what I can tell..........but being an ACE is time consuming, isn't it?
Oddly enough, not a single person signed up for the team during the Frink's Drinks run on Peta's picks. Not that I mind - it was a needed rest that gave me time for other things!
