A Conversation for Fantasy Krikkit

Changes made to rules

I've been thinking a bit about the scoring in Fantasy Krikkit. I've decided to adjust the scoring so that batsmen score three points for every fifty, while adding a point for every catch taken by a fielder.

Two reasons for this. If there are any queries about how many points a particular batsman has scored, it's easier to check the 50s and 100s columns than to go through every innings. Also, by adding in a point for catches as Montague Trout and Demon Drawer have suggested, it would mean that a batsman scoring a century and taking a catch would give the same points as a four wicket haul by a bowler, which sounds about right to me. The slightly lower capacity for batsmen to score points for runs should - in theory - be offset by the extra catches they will take.

I'm going to give double points to the captain only for their performances outside their main discipline; doubling all the points will give too much of an advantage to key players. The essence of a captain is the ability to influence events away from his chief talents. So if your captain is listed as a bowler, for example, he will only score double runs for points scored while fielding or batting. I'm hoping this will encourage players to choose at least one all-rounder in their sides as well, as obviously a bowler who can bat a bit or vice-versa makes a natural captain.

I also forgot to specify that there should be no more than three players from any one County, and have added this to the rules.

I've got almost half of the team lists done now, so we should be ready to bring the bidding rounds forward by a week to accommodate Nirvanite's holiday. This will also give you all an extra week to bid for unattached players to fill any gaps and/or improve your squads.

smiley - ok

Can I get this clear. Batsmen are now scoring 2 points for a 25, 3 points for a 50 and 4 points for a century, yes?

No points for a 25. Three for *every* fifty runs scored, and a bonus point every century. So that makes 100 worth seven points.

Please can I get a decision from the Ump?

When does the first round start?
And when does it run through until?

There is only one round, MT. It starts on Wednesday at 11am, and lasts until the end of the season smiley - ok

I'll be updating the scores once a week wherever possible, but, as I take on a second (and sometimes third) job over the summer, I'm not going to say that I'll definitely update every Sunday or anything like that.

Br. Megachedda-I've found my apostrophe key!!!

May i make a suggestion to the rules? I suggest that a bowler should get 1 point per maiden over.

I think the bowlers get a fair deal. A batsman would have to score a double century to match Mushtaq Ahmed's performance yesterday.

And how gutted was I when Owais Shah missed a double century by just seven runs!
