The first I heard of ACEs was October/November, when someone (was it Skeleton? Can't remember who) had his name as whatever ACE 2b and we all wondered why his name was so confusing..

Skeleton's the one that vanished.... wasn't he?
BTW I've decided that all my poems from henceforth are going in one entry at
http://www.h2g2.com/A268869
And there is a new one there too...

Mine would need probably most of the server to fit them all on.
I just keep added to the edited highlights and anygood new ones will go in my journal. Off to check out the new one of Js

I'll go there ASAP. And, as far as I know, Skeleton (Festival) didn't so much as vanish, more write racist remarks and was asked to leave for a little while, and he decided that he didn't want to H2G2 any more. Of course that could all be wrong, so don't believe a word I say.

Well, that's the rumour I had heard. I do not say it's true.
At the end of the day, is it any of our business? Probably not.
Even if we did like Skeleton/Festival and was our friend.

Is it just me, or has H2G2 been really slow today (2000-feb-23)?

Demon Drawer Posted Feb 23, 2000
No Phil, it's not just you, it took me 5 minutes earlier to download the Doughnut Stall.
Ah well hopefully just a temporary situation.

Glad it's not me.
I was wondering as the ping times from me to the router at TDV were of the order of a few milliseconds.
I even checked out what software runs this site (with netcraft http://www.netcraft.com/ ) and it's running on NT with IIS

No, it is a v e r y s l o w H2G2 at the moment.
And us addicted people have had their lives destroyed by it!

Strange, as it doesn't seem like there have been too many people on all day.
Guess it must be something that the PTWVH have been doing. (and were unlikely to know what has gone on )

Enjoy your evening Phil.
A little tip for the addicts that pay their own bill, and don't get access at work/uni etc. You can disconnect, but all pages visited are still in the cache(?) memory (this what it's called Phil?). SO... load up several pages without reading them, then disconnect and use the back button to actually read the information. I also do this when reading a new h2g2 forum which has been going on for a while. I wait for it to load, then disconnect and scroll through at my leisure. If I want to reply, then I reconnect.
How I disconnect: I have a 2 screen icon on my task bar and I right click.

Hi Coelacanth, I did have an enjoyable evening, I went to the theatre to see Cats with my sister (who's down here as part of a birthday thing from the parents). A review of mine is on my page!
The thing is the cache, correct and it will work as you say.
One way I use to keep track of several fora is to have at least two h2g2 windows open, one can be loading up whilst you read the other.
At least whatever happened to slow it down earlier seems to have gone away (perhaps it seems like that cos I'm now on a modem link from home)

Currently I have 10 H2G2 windows open... fourteen in total... the computer's not out of virtual memory yet but it soon will be!
I do have a uni connection, though.
Key: Complain about this post
