Does it have to be fiction?

Post 1

Those of us with very short attention spans have trouble following complex plots with many characters. I read all of the Harry Potter books and all I got was that it was about a boy wizard who takes a very long time to defeat one of the most remarkably stupid villains in literature. I know, it's a kids book, it's not supposed to be deep.

feeling a little sad about harry pot, simply because ok its fairly good but there have been so many others - better - different and we arent seeing them cause there isnt the hype.
perhaps someone one day will do a review and because they have the public eye all of a sudden the other books, which so few know about but are totaly stunning will become popular.
The music world is similar - what are we all missing because the media bosses think were thick.

I haven't become at all entranced with all the 'Potter' hype, so aside from gathering also that he is a child-wizard, it means nothing to me.

While they are considered very wrong in some places, the tales of two young lads that I always enjoyed were Tom Sawyer and Huckleberry Finn, written by Mark Twain. Very good tales of boys and the ways of life in their day. And even if attention span is short as mine was when I read them, you come away from a few chapters with a smile, and knowing that these scalliwawgs will always find a trick or a way to have an adventure. Without any need for magic.

My own primary taste for years was Science Fiction, but when much of it turned to 'fantasy', I too lost interest. So that is a genre that I've not much delved into. Aside from that, if it's printed and NOT romance-based, I'll give it a read. Action and adventure is often a good escape, without the need of a lot of focus or long-term attention. smiley - smiley
