of a colleague of mine. He stepped out of a big top a while back. But his net hadn't been fall proof and he was a bit damaged. Now he's fit again and he thinks he needs to go back. He's bored, he doesn't really want it, but he can't see any other choices.

This is one that's escaped me a bit.
I don't remember what I was trying to say, exactly.
I do remember it was intended to persuade Ben of something, but it turned out she's funny about clowns, and so she didn't like it.

It does have a slightly autobiographical feel for me.
I did a pressure job for some years. I thought I was relaxed in it. I seemed to be able to do it pretty well without getting in a flap.
And then I really relaxed, and it started to get boring, and then I wasn't good at it any longer. I'd lost the stomach to stick it out.

So, yeah, sounds like your colleague's lost the plot a littlesmiley - erm
