I have the same name there so I shouldn't be difficult to spot!

It was very easy indeed. Also, the link to your regular homepage, which provided an email-address that checked out valid with both SETI and H2G2, made it easy for me to find your researcher-number, even if you had NOT written this little note for me to find. You're now in the list, thnx for joining

I feel (kind of) cheated... I changed my pages three times, due to several reasons... I used to be a researcher well into the 40000, and then in the mid 50000, and now I am all the way at the end, almost to the 60000 .... a bit of a prejudice, really

Hi Eggy!
I'm not sure what you're trying to tell me... 40000, 50000, 60000? What are these numbers? It's not your researcher-number you're talking about, so much I can say, because that's 99947!
Anyway: since I don't know what you're getting at, I can't advise you either, I'm afraid. Sorry.

No, I'm just pouting because I'm nearly last on the list... however, since I've changed pages so much, I've lost my original #, and, in my current incarnation, I am a "newbie" on h2g2... far from it! I've been around for quite a while

Hey, what does it matter WHERE you are on the list? The list is just in order of researcher-number, which says nothing about anybodies importance. I'ts an arbitrary decision I made because any other order might be just as trivial. If I were to use alphabetical order, you wouldn't be much higher up in the list.
Alternatively I could have chosen to set up a list by performance, but then I would have to adjust the list very often.

Yes... and I would be very near the top Besides, I said I was pouting, I didn't say it was a very good reason

I'd grant you a position somewhere in the middle...
Maybe my understanding of the word "pouting" isn't complete... Actually, I'm absolutely *sure* about that

Sorry, The Cow
I've been away for a very long time. Now I've only returned to keep my Seti@home pages up to date, so at last you get value for time )
In other words: you're listed now

Could you unlist me please. I no longer take part in SETI so think it's about time I unlisted myself.

Your score so far stays in our group, right? Thus there's no reason to unlist you. (Seems only fair towards you to show your name, in exchange for the work-units you've granted us.)
However, since you've removed the link from your page, I have also unlinked you.
Anyway, even though you have stopped running the program, if you had still kept the link on, I would also have kept my link to you intact.
After all, you have donated some work, and links to and fro never hurt.
Does this answer satisfy you, my friend?

You're welcome. It's only fair, isn't it?

No. I want to be unlisted, not just unlinked. In exchange for that my credits will stay for the h2g2 effort.

This world and its inhabitants never cease to amaze me: most people are prepared to kill, if only to get ON a list, and here's a guy dying to get OFF!
Ok, if that's what you wish... But there's one thing I must warn you about: I can remove you, but every time that I see a difference in the number of listed names at the Seti@home group-list, and the number of names here, I'll be doing a lot of work to find out where the difference lies, adding the names that are missing on my page.
I can't promise that I'll always remember to leave you out! So don't get mad at me, if you find yourself on it once again in the future. Your request is the weirdest of all in the first place (to put it mildly).

I do have a tip, though! Change your info at the Seti@home site, choose a different name that I can not trace back to you, and also remove the URL there. That way, Mr.Cynic will not end up in the list, but the new name will show up as an "unknown" or "alien" far down the list, because I can't find that person. That way you at least SEEM to be unlisted, without a chance for me to foul up in the future.

Ok, that's what you seem to have done already. And leaving the name empty was indeed a very smart trick. Consider yourself unknown and unlisted as per your wish
