Entry: Local H - A1954181
Author: Met K. (bprewitt) - U518697
Finished entry. About a band from Chicago, Ill. Simply seeking feedback and whathaveyou. You know, the usual before you bribe someone into editing it into the guide for you.

Oh, er, yes, this is my first entry by the way. I'm also trying to gauge what the response to my style and what I have to write about is. You know, "Hey, you're too dry," or "We have enough biographies of little bands already! Get off it, pal."
Thanks for any feedback in advance!

Hey!
Well, I like it - would be a good addition to the guide!
Style-wise, a little music-journalisty for me but that's an entirely personal opinion and many will probably disagree with me. Either way, you tell a good story.
I'd want to rein you in on a couple of things though. Such as "voila, the two-man line-up was born." I don't think the two-man line-up was in fact born in Illinois in the late eighties...
Also, I'm afraid I don't quite understand the first sentence - what does "premier" refer to? The premier band in the world? The premier band in Illinois? Do you mean epitome?
>>> yet surprises as one finds the duo indulging in their Cheap Trick fanboyism.
Oops! I didn't understand this either. Does that mean I am terminally uncool?
I also thought that it might be helpful to say more about what kind of band they are at the beginning, before plunging into the biographical detail.
However, overall I think this needs not much tweaking to make it guide-worthy.

I wasn't sure by what you said above whether you know about the Peer Review process. Perhaps you do and I've missed the irony, but just in case...
Peer Review isn't just for a bit of feedback, although that's certainly part of it. Any entry that wants to be in the Edited Guide has to go into Peer Review so that others can comment and make suggestions. Once there seems to be a consensus that the entry meets the guidelines for the EG, it is ready to be picked by a scout.
Sorry if I'm telling you stuff you already know.

Hey! Thank you for the feedback. It is whole-heartedly appreciated - and not understanding a reference I make does not mean you are terminally uncool. In fact, it probably means you have a heavier grip on reality, as I tend not to understand what I mean after careful consideration.
Anywho - Yes, I'll correct the 'voila' statement. The two-man line-up was indeed not born until after the '92 Demos, and I didn't think to include that, as I only sort of mention the demo cd in passing. Thank you. Premier, in this case, is referring to Local H being the most important/best two-man band around. Somewhat poor usage, I know, but it's one of those statements I just can't resist using. Pink Floyd are the premier space-rock band is another instance I can think of, if that will clear up how it is used a bit more.
The Cheap Trick reference requires you to know two things, which, upon reflection, I realize might prove a problem to people who don't know both. A) Here Comes The Zoo has a heavy Cheap Trick influence on numerous songs, such as 'Half-Life' and '5th Ave. Crazy,' and B) Who Cheap Trick are and what they sound like. Even more, I can see why some might not get this even knowing both, so I'll footnote it.
I will update it later tonight with these revisions and additional information about what kind of band they are, what kind of music they play, etc. Thank you very much for your input, it is much appreciated. And yes, I realize that Peer Review is for entries seeking admittance into the guide - I was simply asking for feedback, well, because I wasn't sure if it would receive any. Paranoia, I guess!
Again, thank you, and anything further you have to say (even if it's just to say hey! I like that band too!) is most welcome.

Hmm, apparently GuideML doesn't work in conversations. Oops, color me blind for not reading that. :/

Actually that's not what I meant about the voila statement. You seemed to be claiming that Local H were the first band ever to have a two-man line-up and I was disagreeing. Perhaps you should say "their two-man line-up" not "the two-man line-up" like they invented the concept.
Sadly, I've never heard of Local H, so can't say whether I like them.

Ah, I see! Thanks for clarifying. I take for granted the fact that most people who keep up with certain areas of rock tend to know them, or, at least say, "Hey, isn't that that two man band?" So the concept of people not being familiar is a little alien to me. I'll correct that as soon as I have time - ugh! Busy.
Thank you again.

BTW - If you get a chance, I whole-heartedly suggest starting with Pack Up The Cats. I mean, that is, if you have any interest in hearing them. I'm unsure as to what your tastes are, however, you can easily read over this entry and see which album you think you might like. I suggest them, even if you can only listen to them on a used cd at a vinyl shop.

The author moved cross-country. Don't flea-market it yet if possible. Or, well, you can, but it'll be finished today.

I've posted to the e-group to let them know you are alive and well. Hopefully, I've pulled the Flea Marketing, but if I'm not in time, you can dig it out and repost it here.

Sorry it was so late. Things kind of got jumbled for a month or two - you know how it goes. Moved cross country twice in a year, you'd have thought I'd know how-to do it by now.
As usual, any suggestions on the entry are most helpful and completely desired.
Thanks, fellas.

Oh welcome back
I'll get in touch with the staff straight away to put a stop on moving this to the flea-market.
