Though it may have less practical impact on the general public, I think there is room for additional entries about specific transitions in different regions of the world. As you say, in many if not all of the at least 7 early farming regions the process seems to have come about independantly. I bow to your superior h2g2 experience and would suggest working together if you intend to do further anthropologically themed entries. Since so many other commenters seem interested in this type of subject, I would like to say that I am founding an h2g2 Anthropological Society at A1975179 so feel free to check it out or even join.

Thank you MotDoc, and I will try to join up. It is a fascinating subject.
I think there is a *lot* to write on in this particular area, and I would hate anybody to think that this is the definitive entry on the Neolithic times. It is just the thin end of the thin end of the wedge, and really all that it is trying to do is to give people a view on pre-historic times that, maybe, they didn't realise. I was quite amazed the first time I heard it. There is ample opportunity for you or anybody to write other articles on Neolithic times or Neolithic societies. Quite deliberately I avoided going too much into the details of the middle east because I felt that it might distract too much from the main thrust of the entry.

I have made two minor changes to help readability. I have replaced the phrase "the problems ... were legion" with "were many and varied", and I have replaced the word "coteries" with "groups of advisors and experts".

Your Guide Entry has just been picked from Peer Review by one of our Scouts, and is now heading off into the Editorial Process, which ends with publication in the Edited Guide. We've therefore moved this Review Conversation out of Peer Review and to the entry itself.
If you'd like to know what happens now, check out the page on 'What Happens after your Entry has been Recommended?' at EditedGuide-Process. We hope this explains everything.
Thanks for contributing to the Edited Guide!
