I think the 'boards' column needs to have a white background set - viewing it in Goo you can't see some of them properly, and at least one has visible white anti-aliasing...

I deliberately left the "boards" column without a colour for a couple of reasons - one of which no longer exists. However, the remaining issue is that the various message boards moved over to dna had very different (and relatively dark) colours. So some of the smileys really don't work very well - which the h2g2 skins (or a custom css) can reflect.

The white anti-aliasing on the big grin one is because it was simply copied over from the white h2g2 version and no new custom one was made to replace it. Consequently, it's one of the very few I tend to use on the MB dna sub-sites. I find the others (the new ones) rather too revolting.

Oh, I dunno, I rather like that version of the one, and the and are perfectly good on a light background.

As for the table, perhaps you could copy that column and have one on a set dark background (e.g. Goo blue) and one on a white, to show the different effect? They certainly seem to work best on - and were probably intended for - a light background.

I think I'd be more inclined (to attempt) to do smiley test posts on each of the relevant dna sub-sites and then link to those. Plus have links back to the page itself in the various h2g2 skins (as on my PS).
