My ULTIMATE feel-good film: The Wedding Singer, starring Adam Sandler and Drew Barrymore. Set in the mid 1980s, it centres around (funnily enough) a wedding singer (Sandler), and the course of true love. It's kooky, funny, has some great nostalgic choonz in it & manages to get sentimental without ever turning slushy. If you're ill, depressed or just need to put a smile back on your face, dig this 1 out of your video collection. I can guarentee you by the end of it you'll just want to go out and hug someone.

I got "The Lost World" on DVD yesterday - far superior to that dinosaur remake, Jurassic Park.
As I'm writing an article on dinosaurs, I even watched "One Million Years BC". Imagine such devotion to duty, me watching an hour and three quarters worth of Raquel Welch in a fur bikini....

*sniggers*
Now that was an amusing film... made even more amusing by the fact that it reminded me so much of Monty Python sketches that I kept laughing randomly to myself at those instead
*sniggers at the Life Of Brian*
Ooh I want to add the Life Of Brian to the list if we didn't already?

That's the one with scary fish in iron masks, isn't it?
Personal favourites for a bad day - Sleeper and Educating Rita. Apart from anything they rhyme Will I get kicked out of the forum for liking Meg Ryan?

No, we'll just push you into a corner.
*pushes him into a corner*
Pah, Meg Ryan indeed, almost as bad as Drew "I'm 17" Barrymore

You just can't bear the idea that dashing, intelligent young cake..oops men aren't just interested in 18 year-olds Though I admit - I would like Meg Ryan more if I was in my 30's. So, yes, still kind of ageist... You'll be glad to know Drew Barrymore holds zero appeal.
It's just occurred to me - this is a dumb subject for me to talk about as I don't have any interest in the celebrities themselves (what other explanation can be found for liking Felicity Kendal in The Good Life?). Shall we get back to the subject?

"Carrie always makes me feel good, but then I'm odd."
At least you didn't say "Terminator"; I know some people would!

What is interesting is that there probably haven't been any feelgood flicks since 2001. Have there? Or do we just call them something else since 'feelgood' was replaced by the post 9-11 politics of fear and greed.
But yes, there have been some since then.
In fact, the opening sequence to 'The Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy', with all the singing and flying dolphins is my favourite and feeling-goodest moment in film history!

With you there, ~jwf~
Otherwise I am afraid I'm just a sucker for chick flicks, things with Hugh Grant in them and all that sort of thing.

Worryingly, I haven't seen that many films since the Hitchhikers one - real life keeps getting in the way...
But yes, the dolphin sequence was the best bit of the film. It even made want the soundtrack as a at Christmas..

"The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy is a wholly remarkable book. It has been compiled and recompiled many times and under many different editorships. It contains contributions from countless numbers of travellers and researchers."
