Aha. I think we're going to get along real well!
A nice pint will set me up for the next 9 hours of staring at a screen. Cheers.

Linus...42, i guess that makes me the answer... Posted Aug 9, 2000
Actually Loony owes both Kes and i a for a bet he lost on th rugby game between Aust and NZ which Aust won in the last few seconds
No doubt he has disappeared so i can tell the following joke:
How do you put a cork back in a champagne bottle?
I don't know. You better ask a New Zealander

Just hitchhiking around, wound up here. The future is always up in the air.

Oh, and you'll need patience. Sorry I don't always keep a conversation rolling along - I have to divert my screen & keyboard to RW activities from time to time - If I don't reply for a while, I'm not being rude - just w*rking (Yech).
Talking of which, I have to go and chase some S/W engineers out from where they're hiding and get them back to work ...

OK guys, here's a case (only slobs call them slabs) of one of the world's most prize-winningest beers, NZ Steinlager. Icy-cold, just how people from down-under like it.
What's the differnece between Aus and NZ rugby players?
The All Blacks are motivated by performing the 'Haka' before their games.
The Australians will have a barbie before negotiating lucrative singing and TV contracts in the UK. They will then invite their mates to come and live with them in Shepherds Bush before beating up all the women on the touchline.

Thanks, Loony. I'd never argue with someone who's providing decent drinks. Cheers.
Well, that's done Sport for a bit; never was much good with Religion, so that leaves Politics ...
If he was framed, you'd have to concede that it was a well-presented and literate "frame", would you not?

Sounds good Valis.
Kes, as a person who has worked for over 30 years for newspapers, I realise 'Wag the Dog' was well-presented and literate, but it wasn't 'real'.
The alleged "impartial" investigator, in his/her enthusiasm for the musical arrangement dropped the key line in the lyric...

Who cares?
*blunders across to the sofa, checks that FC is not in residence, lies down and goes to sleep*
*gentle sound of ant-snoring*

Laphroaig .. ah memories -- Islay, salt, feet stuck in soggy peat.
The cheese is OK too.
What Loony?
Ah yes, "twas ever thus.
In journalism the tale is in the telling, rather than the facts.
In music, the theme is only the springboard for the variations.

Kes Posted Aug 10, 2000
Almost 10 years ago - when it was still a bit hard to get hold of the golden-brown stuff.
The peaty taste puts a lot of folk of Laph., but I found that (with great effort) one can get used to it.
Have you tried the stuff from the next-door distillery - Bowmore - their cellars are below high tide level, and the barrels float around a lot. Bowmore tastes amazingly salt&peaty!
c|_| 37 - Ohhh yes it is!
Babel17 Posted Aug 10, 2000
Bowmore is nice. Laphroaig 15yo is best. Bowmore Legend is smooth.
I shall forgive you your sense of geography
I used to live there!
