I really enjoyed meeting kitty. You don't tend to forget that kindof introduction. Well, I think I better get going for awhile myself. Thanks, all.

Ooh, magic whisky, why has nobody thought of that before?
No, this is a real life thing, it was supposed to be an official h2g2 gathering but now apparently all the h2g2 employees are doing more important things...

What, after you came all the way down to London and got soaked in the name of Douglas?

Yeah, but ICU units traditionally have roofs, even in this country...

Apropos of nothing in particular...

Just been wandering through the Who's Online list, and ended up at http://www.h2g2.com/info which I hadn't seen before. Allegedly I'm the second most erudite poster in the last 24 hours. (And the longest post in the last 24 hours was in reply to one of mine...)

How exactly do they measure 'eruditeness'? I'm just wondering if they've mixed it up with 'verbosity', hence the confusion... smiley - smiley

I just couldn't stay away. Another smiley - stout, please
Hi, IanG
Yeah, on the info list, Erudite is another word for long-winded. For the most erudite, they take all your posts over the past 24 hours and divide by the number of characters to get an average length per post. I end up on that list fairly often, but I can't begin to compete with you and your friend who are usually #1 and #2 smiley - smiley

The info page is quite interesting. DD, is often at the top of the most prolific posters (once I saw him with 116 posts). Be interesting to see if he drops somewhat now that he's unconscious in the h2g2 hospital smiley - bigeyes

I'd never found that page before - it's a bit alarming to discover that I top the charts there from time to time!

So it would be me and Tinkerbell at the top of the charts would it? Well, I guess since the forum in question seems to consist entirely of 2000-3000 word postings I guess it's not that surprising...

So I suppose the real challenge is to be at the top of both the erudite and prolific lists! smiley - smiley

The first time I saw my name on the prolific list gave me a bit of a start, as well!

Being at the top of both lists would be a challenge, indeed.

And yes, our Recently Almost Fatally Poisioned Presidential Candidate currently in a coma in ICU, is still in first place of the prolific posters

I have heard that ICU's are notorious breeding places for superbugs that are resistant to antibiotics

We may soon be looking for a new champion of prolificism.

Now that this leaderboard is out in the open, it could provoke some bloody competition. It'll make the old challenge to top the top 5 fora on the front page pale in comparison.

But I'm not so desperate for fame and recognition that I intend to write any more.....

'Ning everybody. What a mess! Looks like somebody tried to drag someone else out of the door without opening it. Any chance of a beer?
BTW, there's two private ambulances and a floor cleaner salesman outside touting for customers. What's new?

Hi, Kes. Yeah, we had a little excitement in here. Police cleaned up some of it, but they're not very good at it.

Just my luck to miss all the excitement. The beer looks a bit cloudy. Are we getting to the end of a barrel?
*sniffs at drink; wonders why the spilt drops are causing the bartop varnish to bubble and smoke*
Think I'll have a whisky - just for a change.

I haven't encountered kitty yet - sounds like a pleasant, easy-going name. BTW, is your jacket a fashion statement, or did you stand too close to a helicopter?

Let's just say that kitty's greeting was... enthusiastic. smiley - bigeyes
no broken bones, perhaps a bruise, and my jacket is a bit rumpled. I sure wouldn't want to run into him when he isn't happy to see me!
