Not at all and I noticed. A good day so far first lecture was cancelled (well the lecture hall was locked and there wasn't anyone else about) and the rest of the department was deadly quiet so I skived any other lectures that might have been on today.
A good excuse for getting here early

You didn't have lectures on a Bank Holiday, did you? I doubt it. I did that once, though.. I also have been caught out by clock changes twice.

Apparently it's up to the departments whether they teach on a bank holiday, ours neglected to tell us whether they were or not.
I was just taking precautions in case lectures were on. Besides I have three different departments teaching me modules on a Monday so even if one was cancelled the others might not have been. I just didn't bother trying to find out this time

Well, it seems unfair if they had taught on Mayday - extrememly unfair. Still, it's good if you haven't had to attend lectures.

Well I'll probably find out tomorrow if I was supposed to as two of the lecturers lecture us tomorrow too

Are your lectures busy? Mine tend to have 200 odd people in, so no-one notices if you are away (no register) but Sarah's have around 15-20 and they take a register, so if you are absent, you are noticed.

Ours tend to decrease through the term... and generally at 9 o'clock there's not many people...

One of our lecturers tends to find his decreasing through the lecture... It stupid really - the guy writes some of the books we study so he should be *the* ideal person to lecture us, and I think *some* of us respect him for that, but he's a terrible lecturer. I estimate you can make out about 34% of what he says.

We had one like that towards the end of last term, the people in the lecture theatre when the lecturer came in were equivalent to half the number in the group that came in later, those who had gone to the first lecture.
Anything to do with the fact that it was student night at one of the more popular clubs in town? Yet to be proven....

some of ours made the fatal mistake of handing out lecture notes. So one person in a group of five attends the lecture (alternating) to take down the corrections, everyone else either goes, takes notes, and leaves, or just gets the designated correction person to get the notes for them... eliminating the requirement of getting out of bed.

We had a VERY suspect lecturer last year called Laurance Lustgarten. He started off by saying "I do not want to be a paedophile at the moment" in the very first lecture. He then kept mentioning sex tours in Taiwan (with under-age girls), kept commenting on how there were more girls doing Law than men, and finally got caught having an affair with a student...
