I'd anticpate them too, if only people actually read this entry!
So, why's Hendrix only at #5? You'rre the first person I've ever met to do that. What's your reasoning?
Plus you're the first person even to mention Chris Rea i the same sentance as Hendrix and Clapton.
At my band's standard, I have respect for anyone who can even play the guitar, let alone be a household name.

You wanna know why I put Hendrix at 5? Well its because I did it just to stroke up controversy. Ok, the truth is that I have tremendous respect and I admire Hendrix, but I have more respect and admriation for the ones above him on my list.
Its a personal opinion, just leave it at that.

Oh.
I gotta admit, my respect for Hendrix comes through hearsay. I've only heard one of his songs (Purple Haze), and while it's v damn good I hate jusging musicians on one song.
I just go along with what everyone else says cos it's true.

Don't trust what everybody says. Many people thought the spice girls would be a passing trend.
But, a man who can play a guitar with his teeth has to be respected... or feared.
(I go for the latter)

But then, Dave Murray could play guitar with his teeth (you don't see him doing it now though), so why isn't he on everybodys favourites list. He is a class guitarist as well.
I remembered when I say Pogs on the Big Breakfast once. I thought "it'll never catch on". I wish it didn't.

I've led a very sheltered life and i don't know who dave murray is. Still, its a personal opinion. Please write in your top 5. Ask anyone you know on h2g2 as well.

Hmm, maybe we could make this a big survey thing?
Hang on, I've got an alx.poll thing on my homepage. Might change so it says "who'sya fav git-ar-eest den?"
My top 5 is:
1. Eric Clapton
2. Jimi Hendrix
3. Dave Murray
4. Janick Gers
5. Kerry King
btw Dave is an Iron Maiden guitarist. And so is Janick. My music collection isn't very broad so that's why my top 5 is pretty dumb.

No its not.
I think its a good idea creating the guides greatest guitar list. Do a whopping great guide entry!
Tell everybody, i'll spread the word as well.

And I've done some advertising. I can't wait to see the results. I can anticipate Hendrix shooting straight to the top, some dudes I've neve heard of doing v well, and Clapton not quite getting the score he deserves. Such is life.

I think I've misunderstood you.
You suggested a guiide entry telling everyone about the guitar gods, and I've done a voting booth.
Well, we can have both, can't we?

I'm tempted to enter myself in my top five but I refrain.
1. Mark Knopfler
2. Eric Clapton
3. The Artist Formerly Known as Prince(Or should that be Prince 3 and this guy 4)
4. The Edge
5. Jimi Hendrix

Well the word has been spread Mike. All we have to do is wait.
You raised a good point there about the edge. We only want individuals please, not actual bands (I hope that's right).

Mike A (snowblind) Posted Feb 6, 2000
Indeed, I second that.
Though, maybe we could do another voting job for bands. Well? are we for it?

Sorry as an Irishman I didn't think that The Edge would not be recognised as the axe virtuoso of U2.
