Eric Clapton

If you want a history lesson about Lord Eric, then go see my entry History Of Eric Clapton.
Here I shall tell the world about Mr C.

Eric is a nice man. Because he has chosen to pursue a purer form of music, and not produce records for money's sake (like any of your 90s bands), Eric denies himself a pop star's ego.

So it is said. Listen to the story behind how they named the album There's One In Every Crowd.

It was originally going to be called The Greatest Guitarist In The World, There's One In Every Crowd. Apart from being terribly long winded this also suggested that Eric thought himself as a god. So they shortened the album's name. But, Eric himself said words to the affect:

"But it's true, I am a f***ing good guitarist."

An asteriod has been named after Eric, y'know! Minor planet 4305 was discovered on 7th March 1976, and was named Clapton on 10th April 1990. You can read the citation about it here.

Nice!

Eric will not be turning up at the Millenium Non-Event in the East End, along with the likes of Paul McCartney, Pink Floyd, Griff Rhys Jones and hundreds of other celebrities. The idea is to raise £15 million to pay for the keeping of a big theatre thing in the East End. hurrah for Eric!
