It's good looney but I think I'd like to see more of an opening paragraph about what makes a comic book hero and maybe how they have developed over the years. 7

Hi Looney! I thought the first paragraph could use a bit of work....
"They can run faster, hit harder, and even more than the big guy up above, contemplate the evils of the world with grim determination to bring about what's just." - I re-read this a couple of times and I think you mean they "contemplate the evils of the world with grim determination to bring about what's just even more than the big guy up above." or "and (more than the big guy up above) they contemplate the evils...."
That parenthetical phrase sort of breaks up your train of thought in the sentence. You might even consider killing it!
Other than this, I thought it was a good piece. You'll probably get a lot of "But what about..." comments where someone's favourite comic hero will be inserted (like Spiderman!), but initiating a debate isn't a bad thing by any means!
Some of these guys I've never heard of, but that's probably just me being a Yank again! Also, no women comic heroes? Could you give Wonder Woman or some other female her due for balance?? Just a thought!
I'd give it a 7 out of 10. A nice piece of writing!!

Thanks for the comments. I will rewrite and expand the introduction. As people mention other 'super heroes' I will try and add comments about them. For people interested in the subject an extended list is on researcher Colin's fine page

Not being a huge comics fan I cant judge the accuracy. But I liked the format & content.
Do you have any plans for this to form a link to more detailed pages on each featured comic? I think it would work well.

Ssshhhh its called acceptance testing not playing. What'll happen to IT salaries if it all gets (accurately) described as playing.

A common query. How long before I know if my article has been rejected/accepted?
My longest wait for rejection was 17 weeks. I have had an article accepted in 7 weeks.
As more and more sub editors are being taken on board I imagine these times will shorten considerably.

Confused?
I am using a text editor on my "A Guide to The World of h2g2 Rejection Slips" article to link to this forum.
The Comic Heroes article text box also links here.

As requested, we have surveyed your submission to The Guide entitled
"Marvin" and found it worthy of rejection.
Thanks for the game tip, but that's not really what we're after for the
earth edition of h2g2. Marvin and the game don't even get mentined on the
site... yet.

This was my first article, written basically to see the page editor function , and happened while I was fresh from going yet another round with the game. Since it was factual and informational, I submitted it. Once I became accustomed to the site, I really didn't expect it to become an entry.

Similarly to Anonymouse I got this for my 1st submission (before there were any guidelines)
As requested, we have surveyed your submission to The Guide entitled
"42? - Oh no not again (wait, wasnt it a bowl of petunias that said
that?)" and found it worthy of rejection.
I don't think it's quite the sort of thing we want in the /official/
guide, is it?
for this piece http://www.h2g2.com/A47990
I never really expected it to be accepted anyway, 'twas a joke *pout*

This is a great idea Looneytunes, here are a couple of mine that got rejected. Firstly,
Dear Mark (The Wisest Fool),As requested, we have surveyed your submission to The Guide entitled
"Hoopy Frood Food" (http://www.h2g2.com/A37937) and found it worthy of rejection. Congratulations.
This was a very early rejection of a very early submission. When I wrote the article, I had a specific favourite toasted sandwich recipe that I wanted to share with the world. So how did I do it? I dressed it up in 3rd-rate sub-DNAisms. Doh!
---
Now this one hurt (a lot). I'd wanted to write an article to commemorate the start of the new English football season. I wrote a jokey (but with hints of truth) article about football and even got a dialogue going on it with John-The-Gardener. Aha - I thought - this is the new 'sub-editing' process in action. Working alongside John I could turn the base coal into a mighty diamond. Err...wrong. John wasn't subbing this article, Smiley Ben was and he wanted to make an article incorporating many forms of football and my article only really worked as a whole, so the upshot - rejection - it still hurts actually, but I still like the article and I wave it around fairly regularly. So maybe another reason for rejection is...................bad timing
Dear Mark (The Wisest Fool), As requested, we have surveyed your submission to The Guide entitled "English Premiership Football" (http://www.h2g2.com/A76349) and found it worthy of rejection. My sub-editor has compiled a large entry on football, and unfortunately didn't find anything he could use in your article. Sorry about that, but thanks for submitting your piece.

Thanks TWF. I know how you feel. I was sure my "Help Rename The @ Symbol" piece was prose of the highest standard, but alas, rejection.
This morning I turned on the computer and the 1st thing I came across was an h2g2 rejection email. These people sure know how to spoil a guys day.
