A Conversation for Having A Song in Your Head
I know this all too well!
CrazyOne Started conversation Sep 16, 1999
Heh, funny to stumble across this. I've had a song stuck in my head for nearly a week now. Not a song I particularly care about, not the whole song really, just bits at a time, and I don't quite know all the words. Sometimes hearing the song again does indeed help.

I thought instantly of you when I saw this. Have you managed to get rid of that evil 80's demon yet?

CrazyOne Posted Sep 17, 1999
No, not entirely, I don't think. I'm trying very hard right now not to let my mind leap instantly to that song, in fact. Amazingly, it hasn't yet.

What the hell are you talking about?

CrazyOne Posted Sep 18, 1999
It didn't work anyway, it's back again in full force. Is that one week or two it's been?
B, I've got a cheesy 80s song stuck in my head, that's all. I mean *really* stuck there, nothing, not even this cold, seems to get rid of it.

If it helps, I can give you a different annoying song for your head - it was mentioned on alt.quotations last night and I haven't been able to shake it--go away now if you don't want to know --
"What's the frequency Kenneth...la la la la la..." (I don't know the words, grr!)

"What's the frequency, Kenneth?" is your Benzedrine, uh-huh
I was brain-dead, locked out, numb, not up to speed
I thought I'd pegged you an idiot's dream
Tunnel vision from the outsider's screen
I never understood the frequency, uh-huh
You wore our expectations like an armored suit, uh-huh
I'd studied your cartoons, radio, music, tv, movies, magazines
Richard said, "Withdrawal in disgust is not the same as apathy"
A smile like the cartoon, tooth for a tooth
You said that irony was the shackles of youth
You wore a shirt of violent green, uh-huh
I never understood the frequency, uh-huh
"What's the frequency, Kenneth?" is your Benzedrine, uh-huh
Butterfly decal, rearview mirror, dogging the scene
You smile like the cartoon, tooth for a tooth
You said that irony was the shackles of youth
You wore a shirt of violent green, uh-huh
I never understood the frequency, uh-huh
You wore our expectations like an armored suit, uh-huh
I couldn't understand
You said that irony was the shackles of youth, uh-huh
I couldn't understand
You wore a shirt of violent green, uh-huh
I couldn't understand
I never understood, don't f*** with me, uh-huh
I hope that clears that up some.

la la la. How come this keepsa happening? My world is just moving from one awful song to the next. I thought of another category: When two songs are stuck in your head- meaning the words of one and the tune of another.

Kate Posted Sep 24, 1999
Yes, happens to me all the time! Especially with two songs from the same artist, when that artist is, say, not so creative...I name no names.
P.S. "keepsa happening"? Jar-jar impression?

Um, i can name names. But i won't. This never happens to me, the two song bit. I am just one of those people that has the last song i heard on the car radio before i work in my head all day.

"A little bit of Monica on my mind ..."Help , its Mambo number 5 Take it away, take it away, My usual ploy is to purge it with the opening bars of "This Charming Man " by the Smiths but its powers are failing, it didn't work with That Ricky Martin thing about Vida Locas either!!!

Sadly, i don't think anyone has discovered a cure for Ricky Martin.
