These were top toys in my nursery school: kind of like lego, but they had more surfaces that could be stuck together in all manner of gravity-defying shapes. Mind you, I don't recall the range of shapes being any more diverse than squares and oblongs.

Were they called Stickle Bricks in Britain? There was something called Bristle Blocks in the US that sounds like that. They were pretty awful to step on...

thank the lord someone else remembers stickle bricks, i thought they were some stange device created by my brain to hide some kind of major child hood trauma. The long yellow ones that looked kinda like a cyber-punk french fry were my favourite.
