A Conversation for A Halloween Tale

Hallo Cal. I enjoyed reading this. It was written in a way that keeps the reader hooked, so that's good isn't it. I liked the descriptive writing especially the second paragraph for some reason. Also loved the allusion to the children 'protecting' the man who was about to die.
What was in your mind when you wrote it? It seems to me to be experimental, making the reader think it was a child that was going to be taken, and only revealing that it is an adult toward the end...
Cheers then
Fred

Thank you
I wanted to make the reader believe one thing when in fact another was going to happen, twist in the tale if you like. I like reading things like that myself, hence my attempt at it here.
I'm really glad you liked it
