h2g2 The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy: Earth Edition

I would first like to say that I am a sophomore.
My background is a high school in central Colorado, US, with many honors classes and a general distaste for idiocy. I have been known to have fun on occasion.

The experience from my high school is somewhat different. The main division is between the "preppies" -- the ones who can be identified by their constant adherance to trends(khakis, fleece vests, etc.)-- and all the other people. You can divide the "other" group into "intellectuals" and "slackers". While separation between upper- and underclassmen remains, groups are not divided into a large social ladder, with a select few at the top. Many people tend to drift (i.e. me), but most tend to stay within there respective groups and generally despise the other group. The groups are all socially equal, in my opinion, with tensions strained between them.

As said, the groups tend so stay on their own, although the "intellectuals" do sometimes stop to spend time with the other groups, until thoroughly disgusted. This happened to me, when I was in a group of the preppies and then realized the sheer futility of my following people around. Now I just spend time with my friends discussing religion, politics, and whatnot, but not that much.
