High School Social Structure

Here is a brief insight on my knowledge so far. Please bear in mind that I am a High School student, so my knowledge comes from High School, more specific, ONE High School. I try to make general observations, as other HS do not necessarily behave in such a way that mine does, but here is my observations: From what I have collected, students at a High School can be seperated, and broken down into many categories. From the starting lump of everyone, the first big split of segregation seems to always come from sports. The athletes and the non-athletes, with excpetions of course. From their, the categories are many, and people jump around, but one thing seems to remain the same. When a person on one of the, shall we say "lower rungs of the social ladder" gets even the slightest chance to pop up a step or two, he/she will most often take it with great gusto, usually leaving the old "group" back in the dust. As the person climbs higher, more and more are left behind, just considered stepping stones to get to the top. This may continue for awhile, or the student may become content with where they are, or maybe they will realise what they have done (rare, coming from my school) and repent of their transgressions.
That is just a sampling of what I observe, please visit my journal entries, I attempt to update them on a daily basis to show observations that I make.
