Oh, I've used pics like that before, I'll go and see if they've been removed during the Editing process in other Entires, and find out if this rule still exists, we know how outdated some of the 'Help' pages can be. smiley - smiley

Me too, I'll have to take pen and paper to bed tonight, I'll probably think of a header in the middle of the night. smiley - moon

I'll add photo to the list of possible personal items in the tin. I think the tins are a bit bigger than they look in the pictures, that darker one made the tin look smaller to me, but I'll still use it, if that's what's prefered. smiley - smiley

In 1889, British soldiers were fighting a war which lasted from 1899 to 1902. smiley - doh

I must say - though I love chocolate as much as the next person - I didn't really expect to enjoy reading about it. But these Entries tend to offer more than mere appreciation for chocolate - I liked reading about Cadbury's ethical dilemma and the way he got round it. smiley - ok

The chocolate manufacture --> chocolate manufacturer
dilemma: --> dilemma
somber --> sombre
fallen-soldier's --> fallen soldier's
J.S. Fry --> JS Fry

Apparently the tins crop up on eBay regularly, occasionally with the chocolate still inside! (Yum smiley - choc!)

manufacture - manufacturer

in a dilemma: because they were Quakers - I'd skip that colon and give it a comma

Now, I don't get the next bit. You'll need to explain this a bit better:

"To prevent their confectionery rivals from accusing them of going against their principles, Richard and George’s solution was to invite fellow Quakers, Joseph Storrs Fry and Joseph Rowntree in a temporary three-way partnership to complete the order."

How does doing it with two other manufacturers make it any more in line with their pacifist principles? I don't understand that.

"The tins remained nameless" - I think 'unmarked' or 'unbranded' is better than nameless. 'Nameless' makes it sound like the tins were not given names, rather than the tins not being stamped with a brand.

I would merge the 'Collector's Item' section with the previous one. It follows on from it anyway, and isn't really long enough for a section of its own.

Nicer to see an unusual look at one aspect of chocolate than a review of a brand. smiley - ok

Interesting entry - well done! smiley - ok

As people have said, it's crying out for an on-screen picture - I really hope someone can get a photo (failing that, is there anything in the BBC library?)

Two things I'd like to know: How many were produced, and how much did VR pay for them?

I've gone with the Header, 'Tin Full of Mementoes'.

Gnomon, date changed

Natalie, corrections done, great tip about eBay, might be able to find out about wieght and size if one goes up for auction in the near future smiley - magic

King Bomba, made most of the changes, but have left collector's item section as it is, after the tip from Natalie, I'll be adding more to that.

>>How does doing it with two other manufacturers make it any more in line with their pacifist principles? I don't understand that.<<

It doesn't. It just meant they all went against their priniples together, so none could accuse the other. I'll have another search through their histories, but from what I've found before, none of the three companies have this listed.

Icy North, I'll try, but I doubt I can find the answers to your questions, be great if I could. smiley - smiley

Ah, they didn't mind compromising their principles, but didn't want to lose business over it.
