I'm not really here Posted Jan 24, 2007
I've got loads of photos of my winter border somewhere - but I'm not in the photographers group, I had to unsubscribe because it was so busy.

Hi all I am a tad confused about the castle entry.I have already been asked if my pic.of Corfe Castle can be used.Otherwise i can do Christchurch,Highcliff,Hurst and Arundel. That would make too many entries;or are you just looking for one castle as an overview for the lot?

That is me If you dont mind your Corfe is a purfect illistration of my curtain wall entry. A18154857
The great castles A685181 is another entry entirely and un connected I hope that sorts out the confusion.

Suggestion, hope this won't confuse matters more
You could use 'Advanced Search' and search Edited Entries for 'castles'. If you have a photograph that matches an Edited Entry on a particular castle, put in your photo album with the Edited Entry title and A number. No promises, but we'll see what we can do inh the near future.

Yes but is not the curtain wall it is the inner ward of the castle, it is a super photo seems to have been a random selection, that dose not show the aspects if the article.
This view was taken looking south west, if it was a westerly view it would have been just right.
Am I being to pickey

You could try taking it up with the Eds Bob, it's one from the BBC library, nothing to do with the photographers group.

Bob, I'm completely ignorant where castles are concerned, just how inaccurate is the picture to the contents of the Entry?

Remember you did ask
As a castle illustration it is fine It is of Portchester (taken from the top of the keep) it shows the inner ward of the castle and the ruins of the early Tudor domestic buildings. There is one tower (in the entry) but it is not the best in the castle and the back of the inner gate house.
There is no view of the curtain wall Portchester has some wonderful battlements and Roman bastions but these are out of shot.
There is no view of the features in Ashton’s tower which has many of the features mentioned in the entry.
None of the curtain (outer) wall of this castle is in the shot which is a shame.
Now this is from memory
The photo of Corfe shows many of the elements of the entry. It is a wonderful illustration of a developed Motte and bailey the curtain wall is clear and illustrates the entry well there are 2 towers and the keep is clearly shown.
And it is a very good photograph.
Don’t make waves and get us a bad name but it just is a poor illustration of the entry
