I concur only with the disgust-with-too-many-smileys smiley mentioned near the very end of the first post. I personally think any more would just be excessive. I have no problem with more; I do, however feel that thinking you /need/ them is a little over the top.
I also find the PC smiley discussion rather amusing. (Ok, maybe they're useful.)
