Orion... We, the campaigners for an Original Hitchhiking Planet Smiley are perfectly aware of who the Golgafrinams are.
Unfortunately that gets us no closer to getting our desired green eyeless smiling orb smiley.
As it stands what we need to know is whether we can get a copyright release from the artist and whether h2g2 and BBC would even care if we did! TPTB have thus far demonstrated less than no inclination to pursue the matter....
Yes, Mr. X, we do need to organise a bit... Ok... Let me go through the backlog again and summarise what we've learned here...

In the books, Golgafrinhcans are natives of Golgafrincham, so his spelling is acceptable as describing the nationality.
And Orion, you said that "We, the campaigners for an Original Hitchhiking Planet Smiley are perfectly aware of who the Golgafrinams are." yet it would appear that mr. X is not. So, he feels that a smiley representing the cover design in selected countries, into which the author had *no* creative input, is necesary, and yet was unaware of quite a significant group of characters from the books.

Besides, IF you read the Backlog properly (which you obviously didn't), you'd know that I think a "Hitchhiker" Smiley is necessary. NOT the Green Orb, though I wouldn't object.
