A Conversation for Don't Panic
Deleting journal entries ......

Hey Everyone!
I've been poking around the site and on the Don't Panic page (http://www.h2g2.com/dontpanic#8.0) it says "You cannot currently edit or delete Journal Entries, though we will be adding this functionality very soon."
Has anyone heard anytihng about when this function will be available?
Here are my reasons why I think being able to delete journal entries would be a good idea:
1 ... Stuff gets outdated. If we are able to delete outdated stuff then less memory will be taken up on the system for old entries.
2 ... Thos people that are new here are bound to make mistakes at least once and will end up having journal entries that look nothing like what they ment it to look like. Being able to edit/delete journal entries will result in clear, nicer looking pages here at H2G2.
3 ... Personally, I'd like to use my journal here as a drawing board, of sorts, to do my rough drafts on, but I refrain from doing so because I can't edit/delete them. Having these features available would encourage users to use their journal more often. Having to ask myself "Do I really want this on my page forever?" before submitting a journal entry prevents me from using as often as I would otherwise.
What do you think? Please post replies in this Forum.

Dear Phoenix, it is on the list of things to do but it is not be a top level priority. For us it is important that we keep things that date, so we give the site a sense of history. However if you post something that you really, really regret the journal entry can be deleted by our techies.
I always have a couple of guide entries that I name Trial or something like that to use for rough drafts. Hope that helps.
