Ahh yes, the sweet glory of the near fatal miss.
It's what makes life so precious, and the warm pint of beer in the dog and bear so sweet as to make you think you really had died and gone to heaven, and not escaped by the skin of your testacles.
My particular escapade happened whilst trying to catch up with a mate who was riding a ZX9R. Problem was I was riding a Z250. Thought I was Foggy I did, until the handling differences made themselves crystal clear on a fast sweeping bend at 70mph. With me drifting into the other lane, I thought Mmm, this is turning into a blind bend. It would be just my luck to see a large lump of metal come round the bend, as a large lump of metal appeared around the bend. Unable to turn the bike in tighter, I had to dift out to the opposite kirb. For the briefest instant I caught a glimpse of the horrified Transit drivers eyes as I shot past him at a combined speed of 120 ish, with a dry stone wall on the other side of me zipping past mere inches away at 60mph.
Oh yes, the beer tasted good that, day. Possibly the best pint of beer I have ever tasted. Not something I would want to repeat, but man did I feel alive.
