Just thought I'd add a little fuel...
"Will you meet me in the middle?
Will you meet me in the air?
Stay around me just a little,
Just enough to show you care?"
As to the others.. anyone care to do a recap?

No, I was here first, my lyric takes priority.
Just because I don't personally know you all doesn't mean you can just ignore me.
Here I go again:
Yesterday he held you in his arms,
While I'm holding you, I feel his bitter charms.
I can't judge what you do to me,
Camoflague the truth, indulge in fantasy.

Thanks, Waxer! I don't suppose anyone will get it now, so I might as well say that my lyric was Sparks' "This Town Ain't Big Enough For Both Of Us". (Just for the record, it IS "Milk floats ride your mind" in "Rock'n'Roll Suicide" - I just checked the inner sleeve of my ancient vinyl copy of the album. Not, as you say, that it matters).
OK - here's another. Which relatively recent UK top five single, taken from an internationally-acclaimed album, opened with the words: "Please can you stop the noise/I'm trying to get some rest/From all the unborn chicken voices in my head"?
(! Although the band responsible are famously )

You witty devil.
Eric Clapton and Behind The Mask, from his 1986 album, August.
Nathan East played bass, and Katie Kissoon+Tessa Niles were the backing vocalists. Phil Collins was the drummer, and some other folk played a few more instruments.
See, I know loads about EC off the top of my head.
Now you can sort out your other posers. Personally I don't have a clue, so I'll leave it to you lot to fight it out.

ok, I'll give a clue to this lyric.
The first album released by this band was "God's own medicine"
The lead singer *alawys* wears shades.

That would be "Walk on the Wild Side" by the Velvet Underground. And speaking of Lou Reed, here's a hard
one: "You've got tattoos of crosses/You got tattoo of saints/tattoos that are/and some tattoos that ain't"
--Feral Korzybski
P.S. If you'd like a very subtle hint, there's one buried in guide entry A187850
P.P.S. If you prefer hints that hit you over the head repeatedly until you get the point, try browsing around

I'm just relying to this so that it comes up on my homepage as 'no replies', meaning that I dodn't get excited over a non-existant name that tune thingy.

PS I don't have a beard, and am not old/young enough to understand fancy computer stuff (other than what I've picked up from here on h2g2)!

I just feel very silly now having not gotten the Wild Side thing... Especially since I've been humming it and singing the chorus around the house for about a month now.
