Have to say, having (ahem) walked through the Royal Carpark fairly recently, there's not really a lot of space there for a museum and visitor centre. It's all crowded round and quite close to the cathedral.

There's a battlefield museum at Bosworth - they could take the remains there. But when all's said and done, it's just old bones. I mean, I'm not saying they should be slung into a skip, but I don't think they need to be *enshrined* somewhere. Just buried neatly with a modest plaque.

Also, the point of a state funeral is that everybody goes, other heads of state turn up, streets are lined with mourners, David Dimbleby does the BBC commentary, and there are souvenirs on display.

I really don't think there's going to be enough of a groundswell of support for this, for some bloke who died 500 years ago. It's not like we've had his picture on our stamps and banknotes for 60 years.

Leicester seems keen to hang on to his bones. Bit late for a state funeral but some kind of interrment ceremony would seem fit.

Also, I just did some research into him and it appears there is a strong possibility he may have gotten a bum rap!*

So he is interesting for more than just being some twisted ugly villain, that's for sure, and a museum would be good.

Well they should be able to check that once they digitally generate his buttocks from the CT scan data of his pelvis and leg bones.

Just need a 3D printer, and we can put him back in charge.

Anyone watch the Ch4 programme on this last night? Apparently the body was found within feet of a parking space with a big white "R" painted on it

And they don't need to CT scan the bones to find the bum stab evidence - the pelvis has a clear incision on it from a blade

Well, Rameses II was received as a Head of State when he visited France in 1976 (President, red carpet and all).
So why not a state funeral for Richard III?

Now is the winter of our disco tent.

I would like some respect shown to a person who did have a major part in the history of this kingdom.I believe a decent burial should be given to the remains..not some sideshow to extract cash from a gullible public.

Yeah, museams and historical sites. Just tools for milking the cash cow that is Johnny Stupid. Brass studs the lot of 'em.

His remains should be treated with dignity and given an burial service appropriate to his time and rank in York Minster.

Incidentally - Edward II, Richard III, Muammar Gaddafi - what is it with sodomising rulers upon their downfall? Are there any other examples? Is there a Guide Entry in this?
