Hi does anyone know the full lyrics to this song?
San Salvador, San Salvador, San Salvador in the sun
you're just a tiny island in a sea of blue....

While we`re at it these lines have been buzzing in my brain all day.
And I can`t remember enough to get a decent search happening.
`...(give me)..
...just enough... just enough...
for the... city...`
(pronounced like Sit-Ay)
It`s a funky 70s band like Sly or The Neville Bros.

And I thank you Venus.
Stevie Wonder indeed.
He was at Michael Jackson`s funeral today and said he wished
he had never lived to see this day. (Why do blind people use that expression...)
So I imagine it musta been him (Stevie) I heard singing in my early morning half-sleep-dreaming as he summoned up `just enough` strength to face the occasion in The City of Angels and I struggled to drag me arse outa bed.
And fear not Optix.
Nobody`s stealing nothing. We needed a good lyrics thread for this sort of thing.
I`ve been looking for the San Salvador lyrics myself but just keep getting tourism sites that use many of the same words. It sounds almost like it might be a national anthem but I can`t find that either. Soon I`m sure someone will find your answer. And maybe someone will post links to the best lyric search sites.

They're all terrible. Pop-up-infested, inaccurate, awful.

I thought to myself "what the world needs is a lyricpedia."
Apparently someone else thought the same thing.

Looks reasonably good.

It has possibilities but is still a long ways from finding those nagging bits of lyrics that buzz in your head when you can`t remember the artist`s name or the song title.
If only there was a way to use google to find lines like `San Salvador
in the sun, tiny island in a sea of blue` as a `song lyric` and not end up with 1,000,000 tourism brochures to wade through.

So...I dug out an old box of school stuff and found the music sheet... Enjoy...
Chorus:
San Salvador, San Salvador, San Salvador in the sun, you're just a tiny island in a sea of blue, but we have crossed the ocean to come safely to you. San Salvador, San Salvador, San Salvador in the sun, now we are here at last and all our fears have past and we are very glad to see you ev'ry one!
Verse 1: Columbus went to the king's lady, she gave him sailing ships one, two, three, the Pinta, the Nina and the Santa Marie, for the Admiral of the ocean sea.
Verse 2: It was hard for us sailors to understand, why we should be sailing so far from land, but we were under the stern command of the Admiral of the ocean sea.
Verse 3: Then days upon dreary days went past, till the sailor on watch on top of the mast, shouted "Land Ahoy" at last to the Admiral of the ocean sea.
Verse 4: We're landing here on a distant shore, of an island we've never seen before and he's christened the island San Salvador, the Admiral of the ocean sea.

Having just looked at Ask for the first time in a while I was pleased to see some interesting new topics. And then this - an 11 year old thread revived. The question finally answered. And nobody here to see it.
