I was wondering if theres a way for two people, using the same computer,
to join H2G2.
I'll explain: I live with my fiance, and I joined h2g2 a while ago.
Now my partner wants to join, but when he logs on, h2g2 thinks it's me
returning to the site!
Our E-mail addresses are similar, mine is [email protected] and
his is [email protected].
Is there a way he can join without me having to leave?
Hope you can help

A couple of pointers if your using a windoze system :
1 : delete all cookies.
2 : set up seperate user profiles.
3 : when you log on, make sure you remove the checkmark from 'always remember me on this computer'.
Not sure if this will work, as it's a logical fix, and we all know that logic and ms rarely combine succesfully.

Hi I had the same problem when I wanted to join. My other half had already registered. If you click the link (the funny shaped round thingy in the top left hand corner) then click the second line down where it will say "click here if this is not your email address" this will then give you a screen where you can registar putting in your own email address and password. GOOD LUCK.

Thank you to you both, i will try these ideas
and i'll let you know how I get on.
No offense Taipan, but I think i'll try 96920's idea first,
as it seems to be a tried and tested theory!!

None taken.
I'm pretty certain that 96920 will sort the problem anyway. Of course, I did think of that one 'coz I'm a genius, but didn't want to suggest it as I'm also pretty shy.

The other easy way to swap user ids is to bookmark the URL included in the registration emails, rename them so that they are clearer about which is for who & Bob's you uncle. This method is only advisable if you trust the other person with the ability to be 'you'. And it won't work if you set passwords & use the logout button.
Otherwise, setting passwords by going to your page & clicking 'edit details' is the best method.

It's possible that the reason you didn't suggest 96920's method is because you ARE a genius. Geniuses are renowned for not being able to spot the obvious!
