How can they be "Born Again" if they weren't born in the first place. You are talking about "mid life crisis" bikers. True born again bikers used to have a bike but had to sell it to have a family, but after the kids grew up they sold them, and bought a bike with the money. They tend to ride big expensive cruisers, like Harleys and Goldwings and they ride slowly and drink a lot of coffee.
I know cos I are one.

When is a Born Again Biker, not a Born Again Biker?
As has already been pointed out, Born Agains were bikers who (like me) had to give up riding for family, social, economic, etc. reasons and have now found their way back to the one true path.
They don’t just ride cruisers and tourers, they often (like me) ride sports bikes and there in lies the problem. We a surplus of confidence over experience they have become a target for the road safety lobby.
So how does a BAB finally cast aside that label and rejoin the mainstream?
Personally, I learned to ride my bike properly by taking and passing the IAM Advanced Motorcycle test. I joined a local group and with their help unlearned all my bad habits (many I never knew I had) and rebuilt my riding from the ground up. I’m now quicker, yet safer than I ever was.
A Born Again Biker? Oh yes, I used to be one of them…
