A behaviorist would explain the selection of the carrot by pointing to your entire reinforcement history, not to your childhood. You eat becasue you have been reinforced by eating, you eat a variety of foods because you have been reinforced by eating a variety of foods. The environment has alway selected your behavior; you ate that carrot because it was available and because yuu were hungry. It doesn't have to be more difficult than that.

About the behaviourist: You're right, I don't know why I did that. I can ask the editors if they can have that changed and put you as an editor or researcher, whatever makes more sense.
About the entire carrot theme: Yes, it is on the lighter side, I just did that to entertain myself and (hopefully) the reader.

On the lighter side, yes, but actually freakishly accurate. Psychologists are silly, aren't they?
