You are to be congratulated on mustering such a subject in such an elegant prose. This definetly shows the awakening from dogmatic slumbers of democratic-mindedness. And marks the begining of battle with nonce-words. However, this might be too little, too late. Ideological awakening is all nice and good. But no error is without its causes from the outside enviroment. Do you really think that the country that disposes of the third of the world defense budget will be at the moment content to turn the fruits of such persuits against its own citizens, like in a 19 century civil war? Instead, it ranges around the world in search of weak states with a large resource base in order to defeat them and barks at states that can defend themselves. Curently Iran falls between these two stools, and US has not decided as to what to do next with it. But the outlines of the policy are quite clear. Let me quote Jack Straw, stating the position of the government which is the world's most faithfull lapdog of the world's 'most liberal democracy': "For how much longer can countries like ours allow the security of our energy supply to be dependent on the most unstable parts of the world. By 2020 we will probably be importing three-quarters of our primary energy needs- and we will need to adapt to that... I will be tasking our Embassadors and High Commissioners in priority posts overseas to take personal charge of implementing this International Energy Strategy and delivering its objectives... we will be enhancing our post's capacity on energy issues". This in simple words equates to the following: Bribe where you can, run roughshood with caterpillars of your tanks where you could not. And ofcourse it is not simply about the oil. Other raw materials, manufactured goods, cheap labour force, agricultural produce,even...
Our errors are caused not by failures in judgment per se, but by selling our future to weather out the moment. By consuming things that are not sustainable and growing deficient by the day. By being blind to the woes of others arising due to uneven distribution- consumption. And by letting the ruling class to cash in on that. Finally, by convincing ourselves that our blindness and stupor is a proper way to see things.
We are not simply in error, but active panderers in our desire of error. Even if we err not in the adequacy of our judgements, we do everything to irrespectively connive in the prevalence of the taint: by attending daily to our jobs, by paying taxes that go on war, by dining on good wine and perpetuating the exploitation of labouring classes. And so it goes and goes. The pattern of vicious circle endlessly asserting itself, being strangled by it, not relieved - In breaking free from the bonds of our 'errorism' entangling ourselves yet further.
For it is either neck or nothing. For, error or no error, "Children of the camp are we\ Serving each in his degree,\ Children of the yoke and goad,\Pack and Shoulder\ Pad and load\See our line among the plain\Like a hell-rope bent again\ Reaching, writhing, bending far\Sweeping all the way to war\And the men that walk beside\Dusty,sullen,sleepy-eyed\Cannot tell why we or they\March and suffer every day". Yes, your camp is on the march executing orders, you being but a cog in this machine, sleekly-designed and fitted with the ballot-box, and democratic primaries, and 'People's' Congress, all of them not unlike the steam-governor on an old coal-fueled locomotive. Do you think that your knowledge that you are in error, will make you happy, or others happy, or stop the progress of this omnicrushing contraption? Once it is found that you can no longer bait naivity on a ballot-box, other modes of people-baiting shall be invented, perhaps, there would simply be a reversal to governing by a sheer brute force.
What should you do, being in the camp on the march and yet not daring to escape into the forest?
I have attempted to draw up an objective analysis of the issues concerned in my pamphlet on the subject about a year ago, and invite those 'yet in freedom found' to read it on my personal space and draw practical implications as to the proper behavour we are so much in need of.
