I hear however that the mascot of the local institution of higher learning is a penguin. I often wonder if this is indicative of the weather patterns in the non-road-construction months.

Yes, YSU's mascot is a penguin, and yes, it does sometimes get pretty cold up here in the winter although the summers can be just as hot. On an average year in northeast Ohio you might expect to see temperatures ranging from 0 to 100 degrees F, although the low tends to shift to the extreme more often then the high, so it is not unusual for it to be 30 below in the winter.

By the Way, tomarrow YSU's football team is taking on Georgia Southern for their 5th National Championship. I'm not a big enough fan to drive 10 hours to Chatanooga to see the game, but good luck Penguins!
