A triad from my adopted end of the woods:-
Walthamstow - a powerful magnetic undercurrent that builds up under tables and pulls needles, drawing pins and other small painfully sharp objects (known as "walthams") off the tabletop and onto the carpet, where they can be more easily trodden on.
Waltham Chase - A traditional attempt to retrieve a lost waltham. Generally initiated by shouting "Don't step on the floor!", it involves a lot of crawling about, staring fixedly at the ground and tentatively patting the carpet. Fails utterly in 98% of cases.
Waltham Cross - The feeling of someone who has brought a waltham chase (q.v.) to an abrupt halt by standing barefoot on the waltham.
