Just once more, cast your mind back to this time two years ago, to the death of a Princess. The tributes, the flowers, the raft of documentaries....the suggestion a constellation be named after her, the suggestion that Heathrow Airport be renamed after her, the suggestion that August Bank Holiday be changed to Diana Day.
September 1997 was not a good month for those of us who imagined that human society is, or one day might be, goverened by reason.

You picked on a biggy there Looney. I remember the day very well. One Big horror in the minds of all Brits and the world.
She is still sadley missed. A tribute page should be posted somewhere if it hasn't been already.

Missed largely (or it may just be me) because since her death I'm not getting my moneys worth from the Royals - Hey I pay taxes, the least they could do is amuse me! Except, Prince Wills hanging out with that Parker-Bowels boy the druggie was quite funny!

In other countries the ratio of blank TV screens was much higher.

Whats really scary of course is that when the Queen Mum dies there'll be an even bigger fuss made, cos they'll have to 'outdo' Dianas death and funeral, they'll be no decent tv for months, crap in all the papers, ick, that'll be a terribly tedious time.

Yeah Prince Edward has got it the wrong way round - at least Prince Phillip only ever pissed off other countries, not his own (adopted) one!

Going back to Di for just a moment...I live but 5 miles from Althorp (pronounced alltrup for some bizzare reason) and was one of those who lined the streets as the cortege drove past.It was very moving,a feeling of fellowship I will not forget in a hurry.The *exhibition* is up and running now,though I'm not convinced that it's the best thing to have situated just down the road.I am thinking of starting up a bed and breakfast during the summer months for all you h2g2ers who wish to visit the *grave* LOL

For people who want to avoid visiting Diana's grave site my Bed and Breakfast joint in New Zealand is opening soon.
