Which "readers" drew up the second list? I'm pleasantly surprised at some of the things on it...and just surprised at some of the others.

I'm not surprised so much as dismayed. I don't know if this readers list is supposed to be in order, but if it is... FOUR Ayn Rand books and THREE L. Ron Hubbard books, not just in the top 100, but in the top TEN??? I don't know who these readers are, but I wouldn't want to be stuck on an elevator with them, that's for sure. Geez, read something fun like Elmore Leonard and chill out!

"The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy is a wholly remarkable book. It has been compiled and recompiled many times and under many different editorships. It contains contributions from countless numbers of travellers and researchers."
