Well mate, you do have a knack!
Once again you get the memories coming back, this time those of loosing my own Dad earlier this year. It is strange the sense of business to be done that us Scots seem to assume at these times as our coping strategy( remember my gene pool was a clydeside puddle). I noticed it first in my brother and then in myself, it seems that we are somewhat unwilling to allow ourselves the time to grieve.
Anyway, another excellent piece. I enjoy your writings

Ah! Thanks TK, Your right there you know as it was not until the actual funeral was taking place when I realised that my Dad was dead!!
I was so wrapped in everything I had to do, and arrange, it was a few days after it was all over, when it really hit me

Beautiful smudger.
It brought tears to my eyes as this is the week I lost my father many years ago.
He too taught me strong work ethics.
I appreciate that to this day although as you know I no longer work.
I worked till I nearly dropped not wanting to give in.
My Dad always said to eat you must work.
One of many job advice tactics was; Do not go to an interview and ask about vacation time before you even get offered the job!
My Dad also defended us against Mom when he could. As we got older he'd say now please for me take it easy on your Mom today. We always did but it meant things were bad with her. He said little and never laid a hand on me. A look and change of voice was all that was needed.
The first time I asked my Dad to please let me finish my point and that he'd interrupted me several times to go on about things that were Not happening so please just let me finish. I was scared and he grinned from ear to ear then said ; Good I know you'll stand up for yourself now. I was shocked because it took a great deal of gumption to do and he liked it!

Hi Abbi, Your Dad sounds a bit like mine, he had to put up with a lot from my mother and always asked us to go along with things, just to keep the peace Unfortnately I only took it intil I was 14 yrs old, then I lashed back?
