What a wonderful story - the one about the construction of this extraordinary dry/wet dock. I wonder about it's use though.
How about the the unfortunate guy who was terrified of birds. Poor guy!!

Hi there AR1, Nice to see your post on the Snippet I had in The dry dock was built so that they could float larger structures out without using a barge, as there was not a barge large enough to float it
I don't know if its still in use now or not, but it was a massive piece of engineering just to build it. It was bit like the ones we have in Naval yards to carry out re-fits on the ships, but this one was even bigger.
Yea! that poor bloke, mind you he did ask for it, with his high & mighty attitude towards us subbies
