Oh Man! That kind of thing kills me. I have seen that happen to places I have known, and it rips the heart of the things you held dear. Still as with last time smudger youseem to have touched on something pretty universal, so well done!

Hi TK, Glad you liked it, its about time we stood up against these sort of things happening! I mean, where can I take my Grandkids now? certainately not to the places I knew as a kid, coz they are all gone

Same with me and my Megan, none of the places that were special to me as a child are left now.

I know what you mean TK, what do you say to your Grankids when they ask you what it was like? Especially when there is nothing they can compare it to

Even the places I used to play with my band are gone, turned into fashionable pubs for 16-18 year olds that can't hold their drink, and wear a uniform of jeans, trainers, button down shirt, sweatshirt (by NIKE) and short over gelled hair. One of these was even the original crawdaddy club where bands like the stones and the yardbirds got their breaks.

Ah! the joy of youth TK Yep! I remeber the days when bands toured the clubs to promote their records, and if I recall we all had Beatle haircuts (Honeyconbs for women) and winlkle picker shores with blue jeans.
A kind of uniform as well I suppose? but at least the music was

I have recently been having a discussion with RAF about this( or at least it came up). I pointed out that because we have so much of our heritage around us in our everyday lives, it can seem not to matter if we break bits off here and there, and throw them away. But it does matter when all the places you remember from your youth are gone or changed and there is nothing to share with the next generation.

Yep! your right TK thats exactly what I was saying earlier! Have you noticed how the kids are buying up our old 60s music these days?
Just goes to show, what goes around comes around

I think you may class me as one of those kids smudge, being as I'm 28! But then my idea of great music is from 1950's/60's chicago clubs in the form of blues. The beatles, the stones, the who, hendrix and clapton still do it for me.

Ah! TK, That just shows that you a good ear for musicand a better taste They will still be playing that kind of stuff for years, long after all this modern stuff is forgotten
I remember when they were using 60s music in a Jean advert, and I told my daughter that I actually had that track! I had to go and get it and let her listen before she would believe me
Then she went and recorded onto tape my whole collection

So you educate as well, nothing like being able to pass on the best bits of your youth to the next generation.

I still have a soft spot for vynil records, warmer and friendlier sounding than a cd, somehow more human. Problem is that I don't have a way to play my collection in the front room, so I don't often get to hear the crackle. Tapes and other modern media are not the same.
In some ways I am the biggest tech head in the world, in others a total luddite!
And as for not educating....you do even if you don't know it.
Your post articles this week and last have a message, and more people than you know pay attention.

Ah! yes TK, Vynil, I have a complete set of LPs ranging from the 50s -70s, and I have not yet played them all As you say, no record player either. I did once read on the net, how to transfer them all to CD, but there was a need for special cables??
As for the instruction side of things, I really did enjoy that when I was training welders, Ah! but all that seems like a life time ago now
