The life of Jesus Christ and the Gospels

I'm not volunteering to do this...yet...but are you still wanting an entry on the life of Jesus and how it's portrayed differently in each of the Gospels? It could be a long entry...

Do a h2g2 search - lots of legwork has been done already, and you can probably save yourself a lot of trouble.

I did a quick search last night, but only for "Jesus Christ", so will do more searching. Thanks for the tip. smiley - smiley

Back again...

I did a more thorough search this time, and found stuff on Jesus and the Synoptic Gospels, but nothing on Jesus in the Fourth Gospel, as far as I can see. If anyone knows any different please let me know, otherwise I might just be mad enough to try and write an entry on Jesus in the Fourth Gospel. Oh, just realised. I only searched for John's Gospel, not Fourth Gospel. Maybe I'd better check, although I'm not sure I can face wading through anymore results! smiley - erm

Hmm, have checked again, and it doesn't look like there is anything specifically on Jesus in the Fourth Gospel/John's Gospel. Will attempt to write something about this, but it might take a while!

smiley - zen I have all the time for the rest of my life. Except the time I'll be spending asleep (1/3) in college (1/4) at work (1/4) doing homework, taking showers, eating, brushing my teeth, deleting spam, picking up clutter, and spacing out (indetermined).

Urgh...plodding through old notes is not very exciting, and I can't understand half of what I wrote at the time. Part of the problem is that I was condensing, and I condensed rather too well - so that now (almost 10 years later) I can no longer remember the details! Time to put my access to online journals and lots of theology books to good use, I think.

Hi there,
I am a newbie and find this whole thing (h2 g2) fascinating. If you really want to do this Life Of Brian oops I mean Jesus thing you might try to find a book I read in the early to mid fifties. It was by a French man. Actually I believe it was probably a paper as the title was.......... wait for it.
The nativity of the Christ according to the bible compared to the nativity of the Buddha according to the Sutras. Phew thats a mouth full. The main theme being that mans imagination is limited when it wants to deify or glorify an ordinary human being. The extraordinary thing is that apart from the flora and fauna it is identical. This leads me to believe that it is not a lack of imagination by the Christians per se but a flagrant pinch. As an atheist I find that these stories are just like Robin Hood, Dick Turpin (one of my great great etc uncles was in his gang and got hung for sheep stealing) or king Arthur. Sorry I digress , any way this is just a finger pointing in a direction you or others might like to travel.
I drink therefore I am smiley - ale

Well, thanks richmondjon. It sounds like an interesting tangent, but I think I need to limit my sources as otherwise it could be an extremely long entry!

Have now finished ploughing through old notes, and have found many gems, such as:

"Epilogue. 153 fish."

and:

"There are considered to be definitely six signs, maybe seven, although some scholars argue that there are nine."

smiley - huh

153 fish? Isn't that the punchline to a surrealist joke?
