This is a short essay I wrote at the request of a friend a few weeks ago. It addresses the issue of Fate and Destiny.

Hello anonymous researcher, and welcome to H2G2! (you can change your name to something more memorable by clickig on the "preferences" tab. It's also worth adding something to your personal space so that people can leave messages for you)

Although this is an interesting entry, I'm afraid it's not suitable for the edited guide. It's already part of the unedited guide, but you've submitted it to Peer Review, which is for entries that are to be considered for editing. Such entries have to meet the writing guidelines (there's a link from my personal space), and I'm afraid that what you've written seems to me like an opinion piece rather than a factual piece of writing.

Could I ask you to remove it from peer review? You can do this by clicking on "peer review" above, and then on the "remove" or "x" next to your entry. This won't delete it, but will take it out of peer review. It'll still be findable by anyone who searches for cause and effect.

I think this is an interesting question, but the lack of an original cause must surely shed doubt on this theory, unless the uncaused cause can be explained. I think also it needs an argument to show why cause and effect are real, and not the constructs of our minds. What reasons do we have for thinking that events are connected just because one happens before another?

Otto

Gnomon - time to move on

The entry also states that chance and free will are illusions. THis is definitely only the writer's opinion, because current scientific opinion holds the opposite view, that chance is very real and that the future is not determined in advance.

Hi Researcher 244236 - what the others say is spot on... I'm afraid this isn't suitable for the Edited Guide (the Writing-Guidelines explain why), but I think it would go down rather well in the Alternative Writing Worskshop.

If you click on this link:
<./>SubmitReviewForum?action=removethread&rfid=1&h2g2id=1284022</.>
that *should* (assuming I've got the code right) take it directly out of Peer Review - you can then click on 'Submit for Review' on the right hand side of your entry and send it to the Alternative Writing Workshop, where it should get a warm reception. smiley - ok

All the best,
