h2g2 The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy: Earth Edition

In the last several hours, when I have gone to the Facebook-homepage, it has claimed I need to verify myself, as I´m logging in from a strange computer. However it is asking me to verify myself by writing in my full name, adress, social insurance number and date of birth. I´m quite sure it can´t be Facebook itself asking for all this. What I wonder is if Facebook has been hacked, or it could be some kind of malware on my computer? Have any of you experienced similar?

That might explain why one website I came across (when looking for a username generator) also generated a full name, phone number, home town, postcode (or equivalent) height, weight,social insurance number (or equivalent) and DHL number of any given country, with a choice of nationalities/ethnic groups.

IMHO dodgy ifused for the wrong reasons, but if some sites (including messageboards) require way too much personal information before letting you sign up, it's no wonder that some people are going to want to lie.

There is absolutely NO legitimate reason for that information to be given out to Facebook! Don't do it, that info enough to for some unscrupulous person to rob you blind! That said, doesn't mean Zuckerman doesn't want it, he just shouldn't have it.

Well, it did go away again. I think it was some malware in my DivX-player.
