Ed Stourton......Not for the tone of his voice so much as it's calmness amongst a sea of ravaging maniacs (JH and JM)

(One minute's silence for his passing from Todaysmiley - sadface )

Moonhogg - Captain Coffee Break

Bill Paterson,
And erm... him who played Grant Mitchell in Eastenders.

As for female voices... am I imagining it, or are there far fewer on tv? I think for a calming voice, I agree with Joanna Lumley. (anyone see that documentary she did on the Northern Lights?)

That's him. He can play a thug very well, but I've seen him ding serious stuff, and he's a realy good presenter and voiceover man.

The voice that gets my goat is that announcer on R4. I can't remember his anme but he's obviously of West Indian descent. I know there was a fuss when he started because many people felt at home more with a traditional RP. And it's not racist. Lenny Henry is Jamaican by descent and his voice would be perfectly acceptable - but for the Brummy twang, of course.

Me? Biased? No! How could I be? I was raised in "Surray"

Br Robyn Hoode - Navo - complete with theme tune

I dont quite get your point...

Most of the time I enjoy the R4 voices. It's when they interview people who have dry mouths I get put off. It's the sounds of their cheeks and tongues making smacking noises as they speak that makes me smiley - ill.

Other than that, i enjoy the soothing tones of pretty much everyone on there (during the day at least)
