Once again, a 'go-slow protest'
It may be me seeing things differently, but it seems to me the only winners in this are the goverment and oil companies through the hundred of extra litres of fuel used. If the brainy truckers are so keen to reduce their (and our) bills, not making unnecessary trips and adversely affecting the fuel consumption of others might be a better way to protest.

Let's be clear about why the Shell drivers are protesting. It isn't the high cost of fuel, it's because they've been offered a pay deal of £41,500.
My bleeds for them.

Didn't the lorry protests of a few years ago work as I thought the then chancellor reduced fuel duty? I could be wrong though. I think the thing is though is at least someone is actually doing something as we tend to roll over and do nothing a lot these days whereas in other countries they do more.

Are we talking of 2 differant things here as 2 things are happening at same time, the strike I don't agree with as tanker drivers earn so much already, and the truck drivers already doing slow driving?
I don't actually drive but food has partly gone up as claimed due to increased fuel costs, so would welcome a reduction in fuel duty.

It seems to me that there is a fundamental question to be answered by anybody seeking a reduction in fuel duty.
The government has no money of it's own. It costs money to run a country (whatever party is in power, whatever they say). Government gets the money from us. If you don't want to pay your taxes this way, how do you want to pay them? There really is no such thing as a free lunch.
And then there is the environmental impact..........blah, blah, blah.
All this bellyaching seems to be all me, me, me.
Things cost. Some things cost more. Some things have cost too little in the past.
