Blue Moon was written by Rodgers & Hart in 1934 and has been a standard for many years.

I think the version you mean was the one by The Marcels in 1961 but it first appeared on the charts in 1949 (by Mel Torme)

It has been recorded by a variety of artists from Billie Holiday, Ella Fitzgerald and Frank Sinatra to Bob Dylan, Cowboy Junkies and Tanita Tikaram (sp?)

Yael Smith

Oh, no one knows HOW to spell her name, you get away with Tanita Tikaram.
Moon River had the same process happening to it, as many other songs. I wish people would make up new songs rather than damage old ones... smiley - sigh

But a "standard" is a standard because it's such a good song that it will survive over the years no matter how many people muck it about smiley - laugh

Useless fact for you: Tanita Tikaram had a clause in her contract that said anyone who spelt her name wrong would have to pay her extra.
